A simple breathing and visualisation exercise to clear the mind.

If there is sluggishness in the mind and it feels clouded and foggy, what you need to do is expand the mind. The expansion of the mind will change everything. This is possible through breathing and visualisation. For this exercise, I recommend that you burn some mandarin oil in an oil burner. It soothes the senses, helps to clear the mind and is very uplifting

Take yourself away from everyone for 10 minutes. Shut the door and create a quiet space. Become more aware of your breathing pattern, always breathe through your nose into your diaphragm. Breathe out through your mouth. Sit comfortable with a straight back so there is no pressure on your belly, or lay down. Inhale through your nose for 2 to 3 seconds then exhale through your mouth for 3-4 sec and then pause for 2-3 sec. No force, do this gently, quietly. Try to do this for 5 to 10 minutes. It will refresh your mind, calm your soul and reduce stress in an instant.

Once you are calm and relaxed you can begin the visualisation which helps to expand the mind. Its most effective when you are very detailed. A lot of people have a problem with visualisation and find it complicated. The easiest way is to visualise something that you know very well.

You can imagine anything, I think that the sea is a great example for clearing the mind. Visualise the vast open sea, with a beautiful blue sky and the rolling waves coming in, gently lapping at the shore. Smell the sea air, the sea salt, feel the wind on your cheeks and the warmth of the sun on your shoulders. Immerse yourself in the detail of this scene which is both opening and enlightening. It will help to reset your mind, refresh your soul and uplift your energy.
